THR is reporting that MTV is set to revisit Aeon Flux with a live-action reboot of the 90s animated series, which is being written by Jeff Davis (Teen Wolf), who will also executive producer alongside Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead).
The series takes place in a future dystopian state and revolves around a young assassin who teams with a group of biohacking rebels to save humanity as she becomes the hero known as Aeon Flux.
Originally created by Peter Chung, the animated Aeon Flux launched on MTV in 1991 as a six-part series of shorts, which was followed by five short-form episodes in 1992 and a half-hour series in 1995.
Aeon Flux was previously adapted for the big screen in 2005 with Charlize Theron starring in the title role and Gale Anne Hurd serving as producer. However, unlike the series, it was a bust with audiences and critics, and grossed just over $50 million worldwide.
