MTV has announced that it has renewed Scream: The TV Series for a third season, although it will run for just six episodes, as opposed to ten episodes for the first and thirteen for the second.
The network has not revealed whether the third season will be its last, although the show has struggled in the ratings, with season two averaging just 377,000 viewers, half that of the first season. Season two showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register are also out, with a search currently underway for their replacement.
The second season of Scream ended in August, although a two-part Halloween special is set to air on October 18th, which picks up eight months after the season two finale and will set the stage for season three.
