Recently nominated Oscar actress Naomie Harris has just been cast in the adaptation of the 1980s arcade game Rampage according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will be starring alongside Dwayne Johnson, who is also reuniting with his Journey 2 and San Andreas director Brad Peyton.
The film will see the three monsters from the original game – a giant ape, lizard and werewolf – terrorizing America as they destroy several of its cities and landmarks. Harris will play a moral geneticist while Johnson stars as the animal loving hero who has to save the day. The last we heard of this movie, Peyton had said “we are using our love of the original game as our inspiration. It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect”.
Harris was recently in Will Smith’s Collateral Beauty and was nominated for her performance in Moonlight. Johnson, meanwhile, can be heard as the demigod Maui in Moana and recently revealed he will be getting his own solo movie as supervillain/anti-hero Black Adam in WB’s DC Extended Universe. Rampage will be released April 20, 2018.
