Bold Films has announced that Natalie Portman (Black Swan) and Jude Law (The Young Pope) are set to star in Vox Lux, the new film from writer-director Brady Corbet (The Childhood of a Leader).
The film will star Portman as in the lead role of Celeste, and follows her rise from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop superstardom. A 15-year odyssey, set between 1999 and the present day, Vox Lux tracks the important cultural evolutions of the 21st Century through Celeste’s eyes, and the soundtrack will feature all original songs written by Grammy-nominated artist Sia.
“I was mesmerized by the scope and vision of Brady’s first film, Childhood of a Leader,” said Andrew Lauren of financiers ALP. ” I don’t think Brady is of this century. His work is more reminiscent of a Sergei Eisenstein or Fritz Lang. When you sit with him, his encyclopedic knowledge of film is intimidating and his passion is infectious.”
Portman will next star in Alex Garland’s Annihilation, which Paramount Pictures is releasing next month, and will also be seen in Xavier Dolan’s upcoming film The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.
