Last month it was rumoured that Natalie Portman will be returning to the galaxy far, far away for a brief cameo as Padme Amidala in next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX, and now the Oscar-winning actress has weighed in on the report.
“I don’t know anything about that,” said Portman, who portrayed the Naboo Queen / Senator / mother to Luke and Leia in George Lucas’ Prequel Trilogy. “I’m guessing that’s not true because I don’t know about it yet.”
The original rumour did come from Mike Zeroh, a notoriously sketchy Star Wars YouTuber, so it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if it turned out to be complete fabrication. Saying that however, if it is true, then Portman is highly unlikely to confirm it in an interview given Lucasfilm’s penchant for utmost secrecy, so we’ll just have to see how it pans out…

Star Wars: Episode IX is set for release on December 20th 2019 with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Mabeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Keri Russell (The Americans).
