Nebula was originally going to use the Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame

November 16, 2019 by Gary Collinson

While Karen Gillan’s Nebula played a rather large part in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the character’s involvement in the story ultimately proved very different to that of her role in The Infinity Gauntlet comic book story, where she steals the Gauntlet and Infinity Gems from Thanos and the Mad Titan then has to assist the surviving heroes in bringing her down.

However, as revealed in the Art of Avengers: Endgame book, an early draft of the script paid homage to the source material, with the 2014 Nebula attempting to use the Gauntlet during the huge climactic confrontation, only to have been killed by the Infinity Stones in the process.

As revealed by CBM, the draft has Nebula “intercepting the Stark gauntlet during the massive game of keepaway in the final battle. Wanting to prove to her father Thanos that she is a capable and strong warrior, Nebula tries to use the glove herself– a nod to the 1991 comic book series Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin. This Nebula learns she is not powerful enough to use the Stones and survive.”
