Netflix has added a record 15.7 million additional subscribers during Q1 2020.
With the current health crisis resulting in much of the word’s population confined to their homes – with many also being out of work – it’s not surprising to see people flocking to platforms like Netflix in record numbers.
Netflix has had a fantastic Q1 as a result, bringing in a whopping 15.7 million new subscribers. The company knows that these figures are only temporary, however, but have said this will cause them to have a little more cash flow at a time when numerous productions are shutdown:
In a letter to investors (via ComicBook.com), Netflix said: “Our membership growth has temporarily accelerated due to home confinement. Some cash spending on content will be delayed, improving our free cash flow, and some titles will be delayed, typically by a quarter.”

Netflix is now sitting pretty with 182.9 million total subscribers, which is up 22.8 percent on this time last year. The platform will, of course, be hoping those new subscribers will decide to stick around even after the world gets back to normal.
