Employing the same rotoscoping techniques used on his 2006 Philip K. Dick adaptation A Scanner Darkly, Richard Linklater returns with Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood, which tells the story of the first moon landing in 1969 from two different perspectives – the astronaut and mission control, and through the eyes of a boy growing up in Houston, Texas who has dreams of his very own space race.
Taking inspiration from the filmmaker’s own life, Apollo 10 ½ is a snapshot of American life in the 1960s that is part coming of age, part societal commentary, and part out-of-this-world adventure. Starring Glen Powell, Zachary Levi and Jack Black, you can check out the trailer below…
A coming of age story….the way only Richard Linklater could tell it. Inspired by Linklater’s own life, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood takes you to the moon and back in this story about growing up in the 1960s in Houston, TX.
Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood launches only on Netflix on April 1st.
