Netflix nabs rights to Enola Holmes starring Millie Bobby Brown

April 21, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Millie Bobby Brown is staying at home with Netflix, as her next film will now hit the streamer. Announced early this week, Legendary Entertainment’s Enola Holmes will see its global release (excluding China) on the streaming service.

The Stranger Things star will take on the role of Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, who sets out to make her own name as a detective while investigating a missing teen whose father has been murdered.

Henry Cavill (Justice League) portrays Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary sleuth, while the cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) and Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick).

Based on Nancy Springer’s book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries, the film is directed by Harry Bradbeer, the Emmy-winning director of Fleabag season 2. Jack Thorne wrote the script (Wonder, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).

Enola Holmes follows the story of the younger Holmes, who is a gifted super-sleuth in her own right and often outsmarts her brilliant siblings Sherlock and Mycroft. When their mother mysteriously disappears on Enola’s 16th birthday, she seeks help from her older brothers. However, she takes matters into her own hands and runs away to London to find their mother. Along the way, Enola’s caught in the middle of a conspiracy that could alter the course of political history.
