It looks like The Legend of Zelda could be heading to the small screen, with The Wall Street Journal reporting that Netflix is working on a live-action series based upon the hugely-successful video game franchise.
According to the report, Netflix is working closely with Nintendo on the project, which it describes as “Game of Thrones for a family audience,” and is currently seeking a writer to work on the fantasy.
Created by Japanese game designers Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka and Eiji Aonuma, The Legend of Zelda launched in 1986 and consists of 17 official games, plus several spin-offs. An American animated series launched in 1989 and ran for just 13 episodes.
