One Piece is returning for another outing out on the open sea. The new Netflix streaming hit has been renewed for a second season.
In a new video released by Netflix, fans are greeted by Eiichiro Oda as he appears to make the announcement. Oda tells the viewers in a bizarre new video: “It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it. Two weeks after its launch, I’ve received some great news. Netflix has decided to renew the show.”
With the intense process of translating the long-running manga and anime into live-action, there’s also the matter of the WGA strike, which is why the creator notes this second season will take some time to hit Netflix. Inspired by the manga series, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember.
