In a departure from typical streaming services, The Walt Disney Company’s new Disney+ platform not only offers subscribers access to its library of film and TV shows, but also a host of “extras” such as trailers, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. And, as subscribers have found out this week, said extras for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame also includes a few of never-before-seen deleted scenes from the superhero epic.
First up is a scene from the end of the movie, where – having used the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos and his army, making the ultimate sacrifice in the process – Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark finds himself in the same metaphysical ‘Way Station’ where the Mad Titan encountered the young Gamora after his own Snap in Avengers Infinity War.
Here Tony encounters a teenage version of his daughter Morgan, played by 13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford, who tells him that “I’m happy that we had the time that we did, and that you were there for me…until you couldn’t be.” Morgan then tells her father that she loves him, to which Tony naturally responds: “I love you 3000.”

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo previously revealed why they decided to cut this scene, with Joe stating that “The intention was that [Tony’s] future daughter, because these films are dealing with magic, his future daughter forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie,” and Anthony adding that test audiences “didn’t feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter.”
Meanwhile, another deleted scene available on Disney+ presents an alternate version of Black Widow’s (Scarlett Johansson) death scene on Vormir, as Natasha and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) find themselves coming under attack from Thanos and his army as they debate which of them should make the sacrifice to the Soul Stone. Pinned down and facing impossible odds, Black Widow makes a run for the cliff edge only to be shot down by enemy fire, but manages to save Hawkeye one final time before sacrificing herself, with Clint then teleporting away as Thanos bears down on him.
Other deleted scenes included with Avengers: Endgame include alternate scenes of The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and a new shot of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy members gathering in a trench during the climactic battle against Thanos’ forces.
Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie).
