New character posters for Blade Runner 2049, tracking points to $40 million plus domestic opening

September 16, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

With three weeks to go until Blade Runner 2049 arrives in cinemas, a batch of character posters have arrived online for director Denis Villeneuve’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi sequel featuring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, and Sylvia Hoeks; check them out here…

Meanwhile, THR is reporting that the sequel is tracking a $40 million plus domestic opening weekend. With a near-three hour run time, and a production budget said to be between $150 million and $185 million, Alcon Entertainment, Sony and Warner Bros. will be hoping that the film manages to display some legs, as well as hitting big in the international markets.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 is set for release on October 6th and sees Harrison Ford reprising the role of Rick Deckard alongside Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto and Edward James Olmos.
