The BBC has announced that it will unveil the new companion for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor in the next series of Doctor Who this Saturday during half time of Match of the Day’s coverage of the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United, at approximately 6pm.
The new companion will replace Jenna Coleman’s Clara Oswald, who left the series last year. They will make their debut in series ten of the show, which is set to begin filming later this year ahead of a premiere in 2017.
Series ten will also mark the final run of episodes for Steven Moffat, who is stepping down and will be replaced on the eleventh series by Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch). As present, Peter Capaldi is undecided about whether he’ll extend his stay as the Time Lord.
