New images from Zack Snyder’s space epic Rebel Moon

June 6, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Zack Snyder’s Netflix space opera, Rebel Moon, is almost upon us. Now, we have a better look at the upcoming project.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, who also shared the new images of the film, director Zack Snyder seemed delighted to bring this new project to the world. The outlet describes this as project 30 years in the making and will follow a team of outcasts from disparate planets who join forces to rise to defend one small and vulnerable world.

Snyder also offered up some new clues about the film’s aesthetic. “It’s more of a dieselpunk world than a steampunk world,” the director says. “The technology hasn’t really changed in quite a while.”

We also got official confirmation that Rebel Moon will be broken into two parts. Producer Deborah Snyder says Zack Snyder split the movies into two after Netflix’s Scott Stuber asked him to make it less than 2 hours. “Stuber was like, ‘On the service, under-2-hour movies do better for some reason,’ even though you’ll binge-watch a series of 8 episodes,” says Deborah Snyder.

Check out the new photos below…

Rebel Moon follows a colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Belisarius (Ed Skrein). In a desperate attempt, the civilians send out a young woman (Sofia Boutella) to seek warriors from other planets to fight the tyrannical armies.

The cast includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, Jena Malone, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, and Staz Nair.

Rebel Moon Part 1 hits Netflix on December 22nd, 2023.
