The new Karate Kid film has been given an official title. Karate Kid Legends will hit theatres next summer with a look at the film being presented at next weekend’s New York Comic Con.
Karate Kid Legends will merge the continuities of the original film and its 2010 remake which starred Jackie Chan in the role of the karate sensei. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the new film will take the franchise away from its US West coast roots to the East coast and focus on a young boy from China.
The NYCC panel will presumably see some of the cast visit to speak about the upcoming installment of the franchise and, if we’re lucky, maybe a trailer or behind the scenes look at what to expect.

The new film comes as the Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai is coming to an end. Netflix released the first part of the final season earlier this year with Part 2 premiering November 15th and Part 3 set for 2025, likely a few weeks before the release of Karate Kid Legends.
Karate Kid Legends will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle from a script written by Rob Lieber. Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan will reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han with Ben Wang as the next Karate Kid. Also starring is Joshua Jackson, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Ming-Na Wen, Sadie Stanley, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff and Jennifer-Lyn Christie.
Karate Kid Legends will be released in theatres May 30th, 2025.
