Neon has released a new trailer for veteran cinematographer Benoît Delhomme’s directorial debut Mothers’ Instinct.
Based on Barbara Abel’s 2012 novel Derrière la haine, and its 2018 French film adaptation, the psychological thriller stars Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway as best friends and neighbours who find their bond unravelling following a tragic accident. Watch the trailer below…
Set in the early ’60s, best friends and neighbors Alice (Jessica Chastain) and Celine (Anne Hathaway) both live an idyllic traditional lifestyle with manicured lawns, successful husbands, and sons of the same age. Life’s perfect harmony is suddenly shattered after a tragic accident. Guilt, suspicion and paranoia combine to unravel their sisterly bond and a psychological battle of wills begins as the maternal instinct reveals its darker side.
Joining Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway in the cast are Josh Charles, and Anders Danielsen Lie.
Mothers’ Instinct arrives in select cinemas on July 26th, followed by a digital release on August 13th.
