If you cast your mind all the way back to the pre-pandemic days of 2019, you may recall that Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis revealing that star Tom Hardy had been “very involved” with the writing, so much so that it has now been confirmed that the actor will be receiving his very first ‘Story By’ credit on Sony’s upcoming Marvel sequel.
“This is new for him, to get credit, but it’s not new for him to be this involved,” said screenwriter Kelly Marcel in an interview with Empire. “He’s absolutely 100 per cent committed to everything that he does. He’s married to Venom. He loves this character. He’s very involved in what he thinks should happen.”
“We spent months breaking the story together on FaceTime, riffing on ideas, seeing what worked, seeing what didn’t.” Marcel continued. “Then I took everything we spoke about and holed up somewhere for three months quietly, knocking out a script.”
We’re still a few months out from the delayed release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but as we await the promotional push, we’ve also got a look at three new images from the film featuring Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), Anne Weying (Michelle Williams), and Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson); check them out here…
