New video for Hearthstone provides a first look at The Boomsday Project

July 23, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Blizzard Entertainment have released a new video that provides a first look at the upcoming ‘The Boomsday Project’ expansion for Hearthstone.  In the video Lead Initial Game Designer Peter Whalen talks about how science comes into the Hearthstone world.

Science is coming to Hearthstone with The Boomsday Project but don’t worry, it’s not all the complicated E=MC² type it is Hearthstone-ified science so expect lots of wacky scientists and crazy inventions.

In the video Peter reveals three of the cards coming with the expansion:

  • Flobbidinous Floop – As the Druid class scientist, Floop is a 4 mana 3/4 Legendary minion, but while he’s in the player’s hand, he transforms into a 3/4 copy of the last minion played. Floop promotes open-ended deck building and allows players to experiment in wild ways.
  • Supercollider – A Warrior weapon that forces a minion to attack one of its neighbors if it survives. You know, a typical Warrior invention.
  • Whizbang the Wonderful – The most wonderful scientist of all! With Whizbang in their deck, players start the game with a random deck recipe that Whizbang chooses. It’s 18 decks in one card, and is a great way to experience lots of different decks and styles.

More cards will be revealed on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel at 7pm CEST on the 23rd July. The Boomsday Project commences on the 7th August.
