Microsoft is testing a new redesign for the Xbox One homepage for those involved in the Xbox Insiders program. The new console update is set to deliver a “faster home experience” and evolve the way players use “Xbox voice commands to improve the voice experience.” You can check out the new redesign here…
The new update includes easier access to your Xbox games and apps, Xbox Game Pass titles, Microsoft’s live streaming Mixer service, Microsoft Store, and the Xbox Community features. This redesign should allow faster transitions to the console’s feature compared to the tabs seen in the previous home screen design.
However, the update is majorly changing the way players use voice commands on Xbox with Cortana by moving away from on-console experiences to a cloud-based assistant. According to the Xbox Wire post, this means “you can no longer talk to Cortana via your headset. However, you can use the Xbox Skill for Cortana via the Cortana app on iOS, Android, and Windows or via Harmon Kardon Invoke speaker to power your Xbox One, adjust volume, launch games and apps, and capture screenshots.”
This “experimental” update begins this week for Alpha Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders, with a full rollout to all users this fall. What do you think of the new home screen redesign? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FMyth_Gaming…
