New Zach Braff comedy gets series order for ABC

May 15, 2017 by Gary Collinson

According to Deadline, ABC has given a series order to the Zach Braff pilot Start Up (which is currently untitled due to Crackle launching a drama series StartUp), with the single-camera comedy set to premiere on the network later this year.

The series, written by Matt Tarses, a former co-executive producer on Scrubs, is inspired by the podcast StartUp and stars Braff as Alex Schuman, “a brilliant radio journalist, husband and father of two who is about to do something crazy—quit his job and start his own company. He quickly discovers it’s going to be a lot harder than he thought.”

Braff, who also directed the pilot, will be joined in the cast of the series by Tiya Sircar (Star Wars Rebels), Hillary Anne Matthews (Single by 30), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), Elisha Henig (Future World) and Audyssie James (Sesame Street).
