At their inaugural Disney Lorcana Lorecast livestream event, Ravensburger announced new additions to the popular Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game coming this May. Titled Ursula’s Challenge, this fourth set of cards in the series brings even more beloved Disney characters into the game. You can watch a story trailer for this new series below…
As well as a new selection of characters to collect, this fourth series brings a new story involving the dreaded sea witch Ursula, while also continuing the story told over the first three sets. There is also the addition of the first ever co-operative Illumineer’s Quest ‘Deep Trouble’, which will have players joining up to face Disney’s Ursula in an epic battle.
The story for Ursula’s Return is related to the release of the power-hungry sea witch from the Illuminary in the second series (Rise of the Floodborn) and sees her begin to put her plans for taking over Lorcana into action. Only players and their trusted glimmers stand in her way.
Ursula’s Return will introduce additional franchises, new gameplay evolutions and more beloved characters as well as revealing more of the story of Lorcana and the Illumineers summoned there. Some characters revealed to be making their debut in the TCG are Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, Yen Sid from Disney’s Fantasia and Bruno from Encanto.
This new series will feature two Starter Decks featuring combinations of Amethyst & Amber or Sapphire & Steel cards, Booster Packs, A new Illumineer’s Trove and a variety of play accessories, including playmats, card sleeves and deck boxes.
Ravensburger has also revealed a new Disney Lorcana Challenge launching on 25th May. This is a new competitive event circuit for the game that offers players the chance to win exclusive prizes, such as an extended art Dragon Fire promo card for all participants, extended art versions of other popular cards from previous releases and more.
The Ursula’s Return series will release on 17th May at certain Disney stores and resorts followed by a worldwide release to retailers on 31st May.
