Deadline is reporting that Nicholas Hoult has signed on to star in The Favourite, the next film from The Lobster director Yorgos Lanthimos, where he’ll join the previously announced Emma Stone (La La Land), Rachel Weisz (The Lobster) and Olivia Colman (Broadchurch).
The Favourite will explore the political machinations behind the scenes during the reign of Queen Anne (Colman), the last monarch of the House of Stuarts. Hoult will play Harley, the Tory party leader during Anne’s reign.
Hoult’s latest film Collide is showing in U.S. theaters now; he has the war drama Sand Castle incoming in April [watch the trailer here], and recently wrapped The Current War, where he plays Nikola Tesla. Last month, he also revealed he expects to reprise the role of Beast in the next X-Men film, X-Men: Supernova, which is slated to begin production in the summer.
