Seemingly on his journey to be one of the kings of horror, Nicolas Cage is set to join a new project.
Cage will soon star in the horror-thriller Longlegs by filmmaker Osgood Perkins. While Deadline offers little details about the film, it’s being described as an homage to “classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.”
Perkins is familiar with old-school psychological thrillers, as his father famously starred in Psycho and its three sequels. Osgood Perkins is the son of Anthony Perkins, and his first acting role was in Psycho II. The younger Perkins is known for his horror films The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and 2020’s Gretel & Hansel.
Cage has also starred in quite a few horror films as of late, most notably Color Out of Space, Mom and Dad, and Mandy. The actor most recently appeared in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He’ll next be seen in the horror-comedy Renfield, where he’ll star as Dracula.
In addition to starring, Cage will produce Longlegs alongside Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson. Joker’s Jason Cloth and La La Land producer Fred Berger will serve as executive producers.
Filming on Longlegs will begin in 2023.
