Nicolas Cage to star in Prisoners of the Ghostland

May 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the post-apocalyptic action thriller Prisoners of the Ghostland, which will mark the English-language debut of Japanese filmmaker Sion Sono (Tag, Love Exposure).

The film has been written by Sono and Aaron Hendry, and will see Cage playing Hero, a notorious criminal “who is sent to rescue an abducted girl who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe. They must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule the Ghostland, an East-meets-West vortex of beauty and violence.”

Prisoners of the Ghostland reteams Cage with XYZ Films, the company behind festival favourite cult thriller Mandy, which is set for release in the U.S. later this year.
