Following the news that Oscar-winner Brie Larson (Room) has emerged as the front runner to play Carol Danvers, we now have word on two directors said to be on Marvel’s shortlist for the Phase Three release Captain Marvel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland, USA) and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) are both possible contenders to direct the movie, which will be Marvel’s first feature headlined by a female superhero. Previous rumours have also linked Elizabeth Wood (White Girl) and Emily Carmichael (Stryka) to the project.
Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th 2019, with Nicole Perman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) having penned the script.
