Lionsgate has announced it will be moving forward with Now You See Me 3, a sequel in the heist comedy franchise that began in 2013 with Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Morgan Freeman set to reprise their roles from the first two films.
Now You See Me followed the Horsemen, a group of magicians who use their shows to rob big corporations and give their stolen money to the audience. Eisenberg and Harrelson starred as two of the Horsemen while Freeman was a TV personality who exposed the secrets behind many magicians tricks.
The film also starred Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Caine with all except Fisher returning for Now You See Me 2, where Lizzy Caplan replaced Fisher as the Horsemen’s newest member alongside Daniel Radcliffe as a millionaire who blackmails the Horsemen into stealing something for him.
Now You See Me 3 will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom) with Michael Lesslie (Assassin’s Creed) writing the screenplay. It will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bobby Cohen.
Now You See Me 3 will be presented at AMF, the American Film Market, where Lionsgate International will begin sales to buyers for the film. There is no word yet as to when production will start or if any of the other cast from the previous films will also return.
