NYCC: Guillermo del Toro promises “huge surprises” for Pacific Rim 2, but Maisie Williams won’t be in the movie

Having been teased and talked about for a couple of years, it was finally confirmed that the Kaiju War isn’t over with the announcement of Pacific Rim 2, and producer Guillermo del Toro is promising some big things.

“[The movie is in] active and in progress,” he told ComicBook promising, “there are a couple of huge surprises.”

Del Toro also put to bed the rumours of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams featuring in the movie, telling the website that they did meet but scheduling conflicts has prevented her from being in Pacific Rim 2.

Pacific Rim 2 is set for release on February 23rd 2018 with Steven DeKnight (Daredevil) directing a cast including John Boyega (Star Wars: Episode VIII), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad),  Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1,000), Levi Meaden (Aftermath) and Jing Tian (Police Story: Lockdown).
