ABC’s NYPD Blue sequel pilot has cast its lead, with newcomer Fabien Frankel set to portray Theo Sipowicz, the “hard-drinking, hard-headed and quick-witted” son of Dennis Franz’s Andy Sipowicz.
The pilot, created by original series writers and executive producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Wootton, will follow Theo as he attempts to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad, whilst investigating the murder of his father.
Frankel, a recent graduate of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, will join returning NYPD Blue stars Kim Delaney (Diane Russell) and Bill Brochtrup (John Irvin) and fellow new addition Alona Tal (Supernatural) in the pilot, which is set to shoot this February.
