Yet another film is clearing out of October due to the Taylor Swift Eras concert film. Ordinary Angels starring Hilary Swank has been moved from its October 13th date, which is the same day as the Taylor Swift premiere, and delayed to February 23rd, 2024.
This is the third major feature film to be pushed out of the way of the Swift concert film. The Exorcist: Believer was also scheduled for an October 13th premiere, but has been pushed up a week to October 6th. Following its move, Meg Ryan’s return to romcom in What Happens Later and the Daisy Ridley thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter were pushed back to the same day on November 3rd.
The synopsis for Ordinary Angels reads:
Based on a remarkable true story, Ordinary Angels centers on Sharon, a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed, a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.
Starring alongside Swank are Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing), Tamala Jones (Blue Streak), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Drew Powell (Gotham), Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett) and Emily Mitchell (Women Talking).
Ordinary Angels is directed by Jon Gunn from a script by Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig. It will be released February 23rd, 2024.
