Almost twenty years on from his title role in The Calcium Kid, Orlando Bloom looks set to dust off the gloves and get back in the ring for the lead role in the psychological thriller The Cut.
Directed by Sean Ellis (Anthropoid, Metro Manila) from a script by Justin Bull (Little Rituals), the film will see Bloom as a boxer “who is coming out of retirement to vie for his championship title through a gruelling and unsanctioned weight cut program with a coach who knows no limits, alienating himself from reality and loved ones, as he spirals out of control.”
“Sean’s track record as an inventive and dynamic director, coupled with Orlando’s planned full-body transformation, promise an incredible cinematic ride,” said Nat McCormick of The Exchange, which is representing the project at the European Film Market.
Orlando Bloom recently wrapped filming on Sony and PlayStation’ Gran Turismo movie, which is set for release in August, while the second and final season of his Amazon Prime Video series Carnival Row premieres on the streamer this week.
