Following his controversial firing from Starz’s American Gods, Orlando Jones has now booked his return to television with Deadline reporting that the actor is set for a recurring role in season two of the Bad Boys spinoff series L.A’s Finest.
Jones is set to portray Marshawn Davis, a character described as “a veteran of the LAPD’s Internal Affairs Division who is brought in to question Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) after an investigation turns deadly.”
Last month, Jones claimed to have been fired from American Gods as new showrunner Charles Eglee believed “that Mr. Nancy’s angry, get shit done is the wrong message for black America.” However, Starz responded by stating that Jones’ option was not picked up because his character does not feature in the portion of the book focused on in the third season.
L.A.’s Finest sees Union reprising her Bad Boys II role as Syd Burnett, who is now working as an LAPD detective alongside her new partner Nancy McKenna, played by Jessica Alba. The second season is set to premiere later this year.
