In a casting-call that surely said “must have beard”, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa and Gerard Butler have been cast in crime thriller In the Hand of Dante.
With The Diving Bell and the Butterfly‘s Oscar-nominated director Julian Schnabel behind the camera, and Martin Scorsese on producer duties, Deadline reports that big-hitting trio have signed on to star.
Based on the 2002 novel by Nick Tosches, In the Hand of Dante tells the story of a priest who discovers the rarest and most valuable art object ever found: the manuscript of ‘The Divine Comedy,’ written in Dante’s own hand. The treasured item makes its way from the priest to a mob boss in New York City, where a writer is called to authenticate the prize, only to find the temptation too great, and so he steals it in a last-chance bid to have it all.
With the film able to secure an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA, In the Hand of Dante is currently in production in Italy.
