Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films have found their Alex Rider for their upcoming eight part TV series, with Deadline revealing that Otto Farrant (Mrs. Wilson, The White Queen) has signed on to portray the teen superspy.
The series has been written by BAFTA-winner Guy Burt (The Borgias, The Bletchley Circle) and is based upon Point Blanc, the second book in Anthony Horowitz’s bestselling series.
Intended as an event drama targeted towards families, the series will “follow reluctant spy Rider as he infiltrates a controversial correctional academy for the wayward offspring of the ultra-rich. Acting as an an unofficial agent for MI6, he investigates the sinister purpose of the academy.”
Farrant will become the second actor to portray Alex Rider after Alex Pettyfer, who starred in the 2006 movie Alex Rider: Stormbreaker.
