Paramount and Ziggy Marley teaming for Bob Marley biopic

June 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures is teaming with Ziggy Marley to develop a biopic of his father, the celebrated musical legend Bob Marley.

The film will explore the rise of Marley, a Jamacian singer-songwriter who introduced reggae to mainstream audiences with songs such as ‘No Woman, No Cry’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘Jammin’ and ‘Could You Be Loved’. His career was cut short when he died of cancer in 1981, aged just 36.

Ziggy Marley, himself a successful Grammy Award-winning musician, has previously produced the video Bob Marley & The Wailers: Easy Skanking in Boston ’78, as well as serving as executive producer on the documentaries Bob Marley Legend Remixed, Marley, and Marley Africa Roadtrip.
