Despite Paramount Pictures delaying Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick several times as a result of the ongoing global health crisis, it sounds like the studio is attempting to stick to its July 2021 release date.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount president of distribution Chris Aronson claimed that Paramount currently has “no plans” to reschedule the theatrical release for the long-awaited sequel.
“We have no plans to move our theatrical release of Top Gun,” Aronson said. “I think the next two months are critical, and whether the new administration can implement a robust vaccination plan. If [President Joe] Biden’s 100 million vaccines in 100 days works, then I think we’ll be in good shape.”

While Paramount is certainly optimistic about the sequel keeping its release date, there is still no official confirmation when movie theatres will be able to permanently reopen their doors across the world.
