Actor Jim O’Heir took to social media on Sunday to announce that he will soon be shipping out to Atlanta, Georgia to work on Steven Soderbergh’s directorial return, Logan Lucky. While he didn’t offer up any clues as to who he’ll be playing in the 2017 heist film, he did mention that he’ll be needed “for a couple of weeks” of shooting, which could mean that he has a fairly sizable role. O’Heir is best known for playing inept government employee and lovable punching bag Jerry Gergich on Parks and Recreation for seven seasons, but the actor has a multitude of other credits to his name, including roles in Curb Your Enthusiasm, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Veep.
He will be sharing the screen with some of the hottest stars in Hollywood right now, including Channing Tatum (The Hateful Eight), Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Daniel Craig (Spectre).
After directing 2013’s Side Effects, Soderbergh “retired” from making feature films, focusing more on such TV projects as HBO’s Behind the Candelabra and Cinemax’s The Knick. Logan Lucky will end Soderbergh’s feature film hiatus and possibly even open him up to do more films in the future.
Logan Lucky centers around two brothers who attempt to pull off a heist at a NASCAR race. Obviously, the film’s plot leads one to draw immediate parallels to Soderbergh’s other heist films, Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen.
Rounding out the film’s stellar cast are such actors as Katherine Heigl, Riley Keough, Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katherine Waterston and David Denman. Newcomer Rebecca Blunt will pen the script, while Reid Carolin, Gregory Jacobs and Mark Johnson will all produce.
