Dexter: Original Sin, the upcoming prequel, has found one of its key players in Patrick Dempsey, who will play Aaron Spencer, the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department, who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Christian Slater).
Dexter: Original Sin stars Patrick Gibson as a young version of the iconic serial killer role, who was made famous by Michael C. Hall during the original and revival series.
“Patrick Dempsey is a beloved actor who is internationally known for the iconic characters he has played and his performances,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “We are thrilled to have him join our all-star cast of Dexter: Original Sin, the highly anticipated origin story of the franchise.”
The series follows Dexter in 1991 Miami as “a student transitioning into a serial killer in training. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter finds solace and understanding in Harry. As his only confidant, Harry teaches Dexter a code that’s designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die — all while avoiding getting caught by law enforcement. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”
Dempsey joins the cast, including Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, and Alex Shimizu, who will also star.
Production on Dexter: Original Sin is underway in Miami.
