Almost quarter of a century after her first appearance in the Batman: The Animated Series episode ‘Joker’s Favor’, Harley Quinn will make her big screen debut as part of Warner’s big DC supervillain ensemble Suicide Squad, which hits cinemas next year.
Back in May, DC Animated Universe legend Bruce Timm shared his thoughts on Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn [see here], and now fellow co-creator Paul Dini has followed suit, telling the Shanlian On Batman podcast (via Forbes) that:
“[Suicide Squad] very much a real-world look. Jared Leto’s version of [The Joker] is almost like a decadent rockstar and there’s a little bit of Sid and Nancy to the Joker and Harley look, which I always felt would not be a bad look if they were in a live-action movie. I know it’s jarring to a lot of the people who love the classic Bruce Timm suit, I love it myself. But in that world [of the Suicide Squad movie], I just don’t see it happening. It’s a rougher, more street look. I think it works fine. I think Margot Robbie is very nice, she’s a very wonderful actress, certainly very attractive and very talented. I’m very excited to see that interpretation of Harley.”
