As reported by Deadline, there’s some spooky movie news coming from horror legends Universal Pictures as the studio has penned a deal to develop a new monster movie from Paul Feig. The creator behind Bridesmaids, Spy and the recent A Simple Favor is heading to horror with his film, Dark Army.
After 2017’s The Mummy underwhelmed, Universal Pictures scrapped plans for their ‘Dark Universe,’ an MCU-style cinematic universe with their classic monsters. Now the studio is going the route of solo films with Blumhouse and Upgrade director Leigh Whannel taking on The Invisible Man, and now this project from Feig.
There are no more details on the project at this time, but it’s reported that Dark Army will feature some of Universal’s classic monsters and as well as original creations. Could we see a new version of something like Monster Squad here?
Before he ventures into horror, Paul Feig makes a stop at Christmas town with a romantic comedy called Last Christmas. The film stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding with a release date of November 8th, 2019. Watch the trailer here.
