Miramax has released a trailer for The Holdovers, the 1970-set comedy drama from director Alexander Payne.
The film stars Paul Giamatti as Paul Hunham, a curmudgeonly teacher who forms an unlikely bond with a troublesome pupil (Dominic Sessa) and the head cook (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) of a prestigious American school after he is forced to stay on campus during Christmas break to babysit the remaining students. THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a prestigious American school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
The Holdovers is set for release in select cinemas on October 27th, followed by a wider release on November 10th in the US.
