After briefly reprising his classic role as Mick Dundee in Tourism Australia’s faux Crocodile Dundee sequel promo during the Super Bowl [watch it here], Variety is reporting that Paul Hogan is set for a return to the big screen, having signed on to play himself in The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee.
The comedy is being helmed by Dean Murphy, who directed Hogan in Charlie & Boots in 2009, and will see the actor playing a fictionalised version of himself who is on the verge of receiving a Knighthood for services to comedy. After being told by his manager not to do anything to mess it up, Hogan sees his name and reputation destroyed over the next six weeks.
“Watch this space as I’ve been honored to have many of my friends and colleagues, whose work I adore, agree to join us for this hilarious new adventure,” said Hogan.
The Crocodile Dundee actor has only featured in one movie since Charlie & Boots, appearing in this year’s Australian ensemble comedy That’s Not My Dog!.
