Peacock has cancelled its drama-thriller Hysteria! after a single season. The series starred Modern Family alum Julie Bowen and Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp during the Satanic Panic era of the 1980s.
Hysteria! followed a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a satanic metal band. But when a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt, it leads directly back to them.
Starring alongside Bowen and Camp in the series are Bruce Campbell,
Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti and Jessica Treska.
The season only ran for eight episodes and was created and written by Matthew Scott Kane, who also served as showrunner with David A. Goodman. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein executive produced.
