Last month, author Rick Riordan and his wife announced the Percy Jackson book series is set to be re-adapted as a television series for the Disney+ streaming service. Now, one of the stars of the two 20th Century Fox feature films – 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters – has offered his thoughts on the upcoming series.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Logan Lerman, who played the titular character in both feature films, spoke out regarding the recent announcement and revealed he would be open to returning to the world of Percy Jackson for the role of Poseidon.
“Honestly, I’m amazed by it and I’m flattered that people still talk about the Percy Jackson series,” Lerman began. “Yeah, I saw that. Of course, I read the stuff. I’m stuck at home with my phone, so, of course I read it.” When asked about the role of Poseidon, he continued, “Yeah, potentially, it just depends. It’s early right now you know. It usually starts with an announcement like this for a big project. So, they announced the development of this show. I wonder when they will be ready to make it. They’ve got to approve scripts, budget it, and cast it. Do this whole thing. So, it could be a ways away for them, you know. I’m curious if there would be a role that would be interesting for me or something like that. I’d definitely consider it.”
Recently, Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan took to Twitter to further express his negative feelings towards the two feature films but believes the Disney+ series will fix the problems of the previous adaptations.
