It seems like the BBC may have to start planning for another regeneration on Doctor Who, as Peter Capaldi has suggested to The Telegraph that 2016 may be his final year as The Doctor.
“This could be my final year – it’s terrifying,” states Capaldi, who plays the Twelfth incarnation of the Time Lord. “I love Doctor Who but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over. But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That’s my terrible melancholic nature. When you accept the job you know there’ll come a day, inevitably, when you’ll be saying goodbye.”
Capaldi made his first brief appearance in the 50th anniversary special ‘The Day of the Doctor’ before taking over the reins from Matt Smith in the 2013 Christmas Special. He’ll be back next year for his third series, and the show’s tenth following its revival.
Will you be sad to see the back of Peter Capaldi should his time as The Doctor come to an end next year? Let us know in the comments nelow…
