Apple are trying to secure Peter Farrelly’s Green Book follow-up, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, possibly due to the fact that that Russell Crowe and Zac Efron are now attached to star, with Bill Murray also circling a role for his Kingpin director.
Based on a novel by Joanna Molloy and John Donohue, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War, the Skydance produced movie will tell the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 for Vietnam to track down and share a few beers with his childhood friends serving in the Army.
A previous iteration of The Greatest Beer Run Ever had Viggo Mortensen (Green Book) and Dylan O’Brien (Love and Monsters) attached to star.
Farrelly is on screenplay duties alongside his Green Book co-writer Brian Currie and Pete Jones (Hall Pass). David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato on board to produce for Skydance.
