Thanks to Variety we now know that the next project that legendary Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson will be working on will be a documentary about the events of World War I.
Set to premiere at the BFILondon Film Festival in the Autumn of this year, the film will feature archival footage gained from the BBC and the Imperial War Museum in London.
“We’re making a film [that is] not the usual film you would expect on the First World War,” Jackson said. “We’re making a film that shows this incredible footage in which the faces of the men just jump out at you.“It’s the people that come to life in this film.”
Not only will this hopefully allow for people to experience important historical events in a brand new way, much like Dunkirk achieved, but the film will also serve educational purposes, with a copy being given to every school in Great Britain.
With Jackson moving away from his usual fare to this factual based-content, perhaps there are more documentaries in store from this director, which can continue to promote conversation about our world history and provide education to a new generation.
