Peter Segal to direct Dave Bautista in action comedy My Spy

August 5, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in October of last year it was announced that Dave Bautista (Blade Runner 2049, Avengers: Infinity War) had signed on to star in a potential action-comedy franchise with STX Entertainment, and now comes word that Peter Segal (Fifty First Dates, Get Smart) is set to direct.

The film, titled My Spy, will see Bautista starring as a hardened CIA operative who finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family. In addition to starring, Bautista will also produce alongside Jonathan Meisner and Chris Bender.

Director Segal is coming off episodes of Shameless and Survivor’s Remorse, and has the Jennifer Lopez-headlined comedy Second Act set for release in September. Bautista meanwhile has already had Avengers: Infinity War, Escape Plan 2: Hades and Hotel Artemis out this year, with Final Score and Master Z: Ip Man Legacy still to come.
