Amazon is daring you to join the harrowing missions of the iconic Tomb Raider, Lara Croft.
As confirmed at the company’s Upfront event in New York, the studio is setting out to make the first-ever live-action Tomb Raider television show and the streamer has ordered the project as a series.
Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is writing the Tomb Raider series, described as an “epic” and “globe-trotting” adventure, though the hunt for the role of Lara Croft is still underway.
“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats’ n all,” said Waller-Bridge.
The recent reports mention Legendary as the current rights holder; the company is also behind the upcoming anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft on Netflix which will see Hayley Atwell voicing Lara Croft.
As yet, there’s no word on a possible release date, but keep up to date with news on the Tomb Raider series and more like it by staying tuned to Flickering Myth…
