Indiana Jones has gained another adventure partner. Today, Disney has announced that Fleabag and Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge will join the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film. She’ll join Harrison Ford, reprising one of his most iconic roles, in a new movie from director James Mangold.
Indiana Jones 5 marks the first film in the franchise since the polarizing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers on the project. Disney also notes that legendary award-winning composer John Williams will return to score the film. He’s worked on these films for 40 years, starting back with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.
James Mangold offered up a statement about Phoebe’s addition and his excitement to venture into the world of Indy, stating: “I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers. “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice, and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set; I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
The fifth Indiana Jones film will premiere in cinemas on July 29th, 2022.
